FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: Invention relates to production of engobed ceramic articles moulded using a discharge method. The method of making an engobed ceramic article involves preparation of slip and engobe, pouring the slip into a gypsum mould, drawing up the article, discharging excess slip, pressing the article into the mould, removing the article from the mould, depositing the engobe, drying and roasting. The engobe is poured into the gypsum mould and held until a layer of the required thickness is formed. Excess engobe is drained, after which the slip is poured. In another embodiment, 1-15 mm long pieces of mineral fibre are placed on the formed layer after draining the engobe.
EFFECT: high strength of the ceramic article.
