FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalytic reactor for gas-phase reactions. Proposed reactor comprises assemblage of metal stacked and interconnected sheets. Note here that said sheets are arranged to produce channels for first and second flows between adjacent sheets that alternate in a stack, and to provide for good thermal contact between fluids. It comprises also manifolds to feed various fluids into flow channels. First flow channels accommodate permeable metal heat conducting layers that may be removed therefrom and include catalytic coat comprising combustion catalyst to allow gas mix combustion in first flow channels. Note here that combustion catalyst I coated in, at least, channel first part by inert porous ceramic layer to reduce reaction rate. Invention covers also method of converting methane with steam incorporating above described catalytic reactor.
EFFECT: gas-phase reactions at increased pressures, as well as exothermal and endothermic reactions.
