FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: strip is instantly heated in heating unit to temperature at least 1900°F and immediately fast cooled for seconds in unit of fast cooling located next to heating unit to room temperature. There is obtained micro-structure containing approximately 85 % of bainite. Heating and cooling can be performed when a strip is stretched in tension blocks. The strip is broached in the second tension block at rate of broaching exceeding rate of feed in the first tension block to form the first section of the strip and to produce second micro-structure and second thickness. Also, there is controlled rate of broaching of the second tension block for forming the second section of the strip and producing second microstructure and third thickness. The strip is contracted both during heating and during fast cooling, which produces cross section of alternate thickness. The device for processing consists of the heating unit, fast cooling unit next to the heating unit, and of control unit for control and adjustment of steel feed rate through the heating unit and cooling unit during heating and fast cooling.

EFFECT: raised ultimate tensile strength.
