SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a thin strip of martensitic steel used in automotive and petrochemical industry. Strip has the following composition, wt.%: C: 0.16–0.26, Si: 0.1–0.5, Mn: 0.4–1.7, P ≤ 0.02, S ≤ 0.007, N: 0.004–0.010, Als: < 0.001, possible B: 0.001–0.006, total oxygen [O]_total: 0.007–0.020, one or both of Cu: 0.1–0.6 and Sn: 0.005–0.04, one or both of Nb: 0.01–0.08 and Mo: 0.1–0.4, the rest is Fe and unavoidable impurities. Content of manganese and sulfur satisfies the condition: Mn/S>250.

EFFECT: strip has the required mechanical properties.
