FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing transparent scintillation ZnO ceramic involves monoaxial hot pressing starting material in form of zinc oxide powder with particle size 0.1-1.0 mcm at pressure 100-200 MPa, in which the starting material undergoes pre-processing via cold pressing at pressure 12-25 MPa, and hot pressing is carried out at temperature 900-1100°C. The scintillator includes a working body made from non-doped transparent ZnO ceramic in form of a disc, one of the bases of which serves to receive ionising radiation, and the other for connection with a photodetector. The working body provides high light output of up to 120% relative monocrystalline NaI:T1 and shift of the absorption band maximum towards the long-wave spectral region of 515-520 nm.
EFFECT: obtaining a transparent scintillation ZnO ceramic with improved transparency and light output characteristics and design of a scintillator.
