SUBSTANCE: invention describes methods of detecting packets. First detection values can be determined based on a first set of samples, for example by performing delay-multiplication-integration on the samples. Power values can be determined based on the first set of samples, for example by performing multiplication-integration on the samples. The first detection values can be averaged to obtain average detection values. Power values can also be averaged to obtain average power values. Whether a packet is present can be determined based on the average detection and power values. Second detection values can be determined based on a second set of samples. The beginning of a packet can be determined based on first and second detection values. A third detection value can be determined based on a third set of samples. The frequency error of a packet can be determined based on first and third detection values.
EFFECT: fast and efficient detection of packets in a wireless communication system.
