SUBSTANCE: method to identify a reference point of time in a wireless communication system includes the following: receiving the first repeated sequence of symbols; receiving the second repeated sequence of symbols; auto-correlation between the first and second symbol sequences; and identification of an auto-correlation zero as a reference point of time between the first and second repeated symbol sequences. A device to identify a reference point of time in a wireless communication system comprises the following: a facility to receive the first repeated sequence of symbols; a facility to receive the second repeated sequence of symbols; a facility to do auto-correlation between the first and second symbol sequences; and a facility to identify an auto-correlation zero as a reference point of time between the first and second repeated symbol sequences.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of sync data detection.
