FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: vinyl chloride is polymerised in a reactor with an aqueous suspension. Vapour is released from the gas space of the reactor and fed into a dephlegmator through an inlet opening, where the vapour is at least partially condensed and the condensate is returned to the reactor through an outlet opening in the dephlegmator, separate from the inlet opening. The condensate is returned to the reactor by a pump with possibility of automatic control and/or dosed supply. In the apparatus for implementing the method, the gas space of the reactor is joined to the dephlegmator by a pipe. The vapour inlet in the dephlegmator lies above the condensate outlet. The outlet line of the dephlegmator is joined by a pipe with the reactor such that the condensate is fed into several zones of the reactor.
EFFECT: higher product output during an exothermic reaction in one cycle per unit time, with the quality of the obtained product remaining virtually the same.
