FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in production of wire and cable cores for space equipment, instrumentation and aircraft engineering. Method of producing conducting wire comprises acting on billet by pulsed electric current with density of several kA/mm2 and pulse length of not less than tens of ms. Note here that billet is clamped at magnetic pulse unit for it to be fixed relative to contacts that carry current pulses to the billet. Current pulse acts on entire length of the wire to generate radial compression forces exceeding yield point of wire material that allow billet reforming to electrically conducting wire. In reforming, several billets are connected in parallel at a time.
EFFECT: wire without micro fractures with preset thickness and length.
