SUBSTANCE: method involves the following: selecting from a content element data which are a plurality of sounds; determining characteristics of each of the plurality of sounds by analysing said data, each characteristic being the time aspect of one of the plurality of sounds; determining the measure of impact of the content element based on a plurality of determined characteristics. The measure of impact of the element is based on parametric description of the time aspect of the plurality of sounds in the time domain; determining the genre and/or tonality of the content element based on the measure of impact of the content element; the step on which the measure of impact of the content element is determined includes a step on which a first feature of impact and a second feature of impact of the content element are determined and the step on which the genre and/or tonality of the content element is determined includes a step on which the first feature of impact is compared with the characteristic of the first genre or tonality and the second feature of impact is compared with the characteristic of the second genre or tonality.
EFFECT: high accuracy of searching for multimedia data owing to use of an additional parametre during search.
