FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: multiple-pass electrooptic phase modulator has a voltage source, an electrooptic crystal in form of a plate with electrodes deposited on a pair of opposite sides, where the said electrodes are connected to unlike poles of the voltage source. At least two sides of the crystal are in form of reflecting profiles which facilitate multiple passage of a light beam inside the electrooptic crystal, with possibility of entrance of the light beam into the crystal in such a way that light falls on one of the profiled sides having reflecting V-openings.
EFFECT: low control voltage, simple design, reduced weight and size of the phase modulator.
