FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: electrooptic modulator on Mach-Zehnder interferometre circuit comprises a beam splitter for splitting a light beam into two, a device for connecting separate light beams and two electrooptic elements with electrodes connected to a control voltage source. Electrooptic elements are in form of prisms made from monocrystalline material with linear electrooptical effect, whose z axes are oppositely directed and are perpendicular to bases of the prisms. The electrodes are on bases of the prisms. Part of the surface of the prism designed for inlet and outlet of separate light beams is made with an antireflective coating, and part of the surface of the prism has reflecting elements for facilitating passage of light beams through the antireflective coating.
EFFECT: possibility of controlling high-power laser radiation while maintaining arbitrary values of modulation depth of the controlled laser radiation.
