FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of pellet powder for small-arms weapons and small-calibre artillery. Disclosed is a method of preparing pellet powder, involving mixing cellulose nitrates and 50 wt % aqueous suspension of blasting explosive, preparing powder varnish while stirring in ethyl acetate, adding an emulsifying agent, dispersing varnish onto the spherical particles, dehydration and removing ethyl acetate by distillation, wherein removal of ethyl acetate is carried out initially at temperature 74-76°C until extraction stops, temperature is then lowered to 65-70°C and ethyl acetate is added once more in amount of 0.5-2.0 pts. wt with respect to cellulose nitrates and 3.0-20.0% sodium sulphate (to water) for dehydration, stirred for 20-30 min while raising temperature from 74-76°C to 92-96°C and ethyl acetate is distilled out. If content of blasting explosive is equal to 50-30 wt % of the total weight of the powder, repeated addition of ethyl acetate, sodium sulphate and removal of ethyl acetate is performed twice.
EFFECT: high density of powder granules containing crystalline explosive filler.
