FIELD: information technologies.

SUBSTANCE: method is based on computing processing of a digital image of banknote, generated in a device during scanning. At the same time the digital image of a banknote is broken into areas, for every of which the function is calculated, and a vector of criteria is made with subsequent detection of a distance to available classes, which are represented by previously identified parameters, besides, using the computed function of the digital image of a banknote, a signature is found in the form of a binary number, which is then compared with the previously available classes.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of banknote identification.
