FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Proposed method comprises feed of molten metal into swinging crystalliser, feeding mix that forms slag skull in metal surface, drawing continuously cast billet from crystalliser, and controlling billet surface quality by shell produced in rolling. Crystalliser swings up and down at increased speed in alternating cycles during the entire stay of metal surface element in crystalliser. With crystalliser swinging up at increased speed, slag skull ups higher than metal level to allow removal of nonmetallic inclusions from melt. Crystalliser up and down travel time is directly related to fraction of nonmetallic inclusions and rolled cracks participating in shell formation.
EFFECT: better surface quality of continuously cast billet.
