FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the continuous steel casting. In production of thin slab, molten metal is fed into rectangular cross-section swinging by sinusoidal law. Slinging mix is fed to meniscus to continuously cast billet. Downward movement of the crystallizer is performed at a rate exceeding the speed of the workpiece movement. Magnitude advance of crystallizer ML (mm) corresponding to range 1.20–1.40 is determined by formula:
where A is crystallizer swinging amplitude (mm), π is mathematical constant 3.14159, ƒ – crystallizer rocking frequency (min-1), τn – advance time (s), VC is billet stretching speed (m/min). Value of crystallizer advance index IL is 1.40–1.94.
EFFECT: higher quality of continuous cast billet surface due to formation of uniform crust of steel in crystallizer.
