FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a glass-like or metallic substrate, having antimicrobial properties, as well as a method of making said substrate The method involves a step for depositing a non-gel forming layer containing an inorganic antimicrobial agent obtained from a precursor in form of a metal, colloid, chelate or ion onto at least one of the substrate surfaces; applying a top coating and a step for diffusion of the agent into said top coating during thermal treatment at temperature 200-750°C. In another version, the substrate can be coated with a sublayer, wherein diffusion takes place either into the sublayer or into the top coating. The amount of antimicrobial agent deposited onto the substrate is more than 5 mg/m2. The invention also describes antimicrobial properties of glass and metallic substrates. In particular, the substrate has bactericidal activity measured according to JIS Z 2801 standard requirements higher than 2 log.
EFFECT: obtaining a substrate with antimicrobial properties, which can be easily used and cheaply produced.
