FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: coatings are obtained by applying biocompatible metal, using methods of precipitation from steam phase in order to cause atomic disorder in coating. As s result, continuous separation of metal ions becomes possible in quantity sufficient to bring about ANTIMICROBIAL effect. Preferable conditions of precipitation which are necessary to cause atomic disorder are lower than usual temperature of sublayer and either higher than usual pressure of operating gas or smaller than usual angle of substance flow. ANTIMICROBIAL powders obtained by mechanical treatment are also presented. Method may be used for other metal coating and metal powders obtained in the same way. EFFECT: improved quality of coating. 96 cl, 8 tbl, 14 ex
