FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: backlighting device (10) includes a set (12) of light-emitting diodes (LED), having a LED chip (12A) and a silver reflecting layer (12B); and an optical element (for example, prismatic plate (16)) for regulating light emitted from the set (12) of LEDs. In the optical element (16), content of halogen etc, is controlled so as to reduce the release of halogen to a degree which is such that a silver halide is not formed in the silver reflecting layer (12B).
EFFECT: preventing drop in brightness by preventing darkening of the surface of the reflecting layer.
