SUBSTANCE: backlight module (60) is provided such that light (L3) incident from the backlight module (60) onto the liquid crystal display element (20) in the diagonal direction, which, with high probability, causes emission of light from the liquid crystal display element (20) in the normal direction, has a lower intensity than light (L2) incident from the backlight module (60) onto the liquid crystal display element (20) in another diagonal direction.
