FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to contact flash welding of strips at special-purpose welding machines in high-efficiency metallurgical lines. Ends of welded strips are clamped in electrodes 1 and 2. Nozzle 4 is fed into electrode gap from below and nozzle holder 3 is turned into horizontal position. Nozzle 4 is made up of copper tube plugged on one face ad provided with perforations made along tube generatrix. Opposite end of tube is furnished with union 6 for tube to be connected to hose and protective gas cylinder. Nozzle holder 3 is provided with rings 7 accommodating nozzle 4 and made up of chute pivoted by hinge 8 on horizontal axle 9 for nozzle to be arranged horizontally between electrodes 1 and, after welding, in initial vertical position. Nozzle holder rings 7 allow cleaning of rings of melt resides in removing nozzle holder from rings.
EFFECT: surplus protective atmosphere in feeding neutral or reducing gas in welding zone, ruling out oxide films on strip faces.
