SUBSTANCE: invention relates to data storage systems, specifically to systems and methods of managing data using static lists. A statistic list is a set of elements defined by a root element, direction and recording ratios with that root element in that direction. The static list also determines properties which each recording ratio should posses in the list. Verbs are provided for managing the static list. A verb is action which can be executed on elements in the static list, and which comprises such actions as move, copy, add, delete and cancel, among other actions. An image is provided for indicating characteristics for displaying data from the static list, including visibility, order and format, among other characteristics.
