FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: fuel pellets with tight covers can be used in nuclear power reactors operating as per closed cycle. Fuel pellet contains fissible material (1) filling the tight cover. Cover consists of two parts: ampule (2) and cover plate (3), which are connected and tightened during manufacture of fuel pellet. Tight cover is made from alloy on the basis of molybdenum enriched at least with one of the following molybdenum isotopes: Mo92, Mo94, Mo98, Mo100. Total weight content of molybdenum isotopes included in material of tight cover is 95% to 99%. Thickness of tight cover is chosen in the range of 0.1 mm to 1 mm. Powder material is used as fissible material. Fuel pellet is made by using method of high-temperature or reaction sintering of powder material in tight cover. Fissible material can be used in the form of oxides, carbides or nitrides of uranium, as well as in the form of mixed oxides, carbides or nitrides of uranium and plutonium.
EFFECT: simplifying the manufacturing procedure of fuel pellets and assembly process of fuel elements.
