FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: in the method of making a multi-alkali photocathode, removal of active gases from a cylinder (1) during activation is performed by combining electrolysis of oxides of the glass of the cylinder (1) and depositing sodium onto the photocathode ring (2) with degassing of the cylinder (1) during the preliminary degassing step by applying positive potential of (100-70) V across the anode (4) relative the photocathode ring (2) depending on the duration of degassing the cylinder.

EFFECT: high sensitivity of the photocathode and its resolution.
