FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of high-strength wear-resistant abrasive material from zirconia alumina used in intense methods of processing materials. The method of producing zirconia alumina involves melting a mixture of aluminium and zirconium oxides to obtain a melt with oxygen deficiency relative the stoichiometric composition pouring the obtained melt into the working space between plates of the crystalliser joined by braces which press the packet owing to gravitational force, cooling the melt and crystallisation thereof together with the plates to temperature 600-700°C in 10-20 minutes, which enables equalisation of temperature of the plates made from the melt and the surface of plates, removing the pressing gravitational force, removing the obtained material from the crystalliser and then cooling the obtained material in air separately from the plates of the crystalliser.

EFFECT: high quality of abrasive grit made from the zirconia alumina, long service life of the crystalliser and efficiency thereof, low labour input of the technology and cost of the product.
