FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: described is a method of producing porous carbonaceous material from plant material, used as raw material, involving carbonisation of the plant material at temperature 800°C-1400°C, followed by treatment with acid or alkali to obtain porous carbonaceous material, having specific surface area of at least 10 m2/g measured using a nitrogen BET method, silicon content of not more than 1 wt %, and pore volume of at least 0.1 cm3/g. Described also is use of the porous carbonaceous material, for example, as battery anode material, as an adsorbent, masks, absorbent sheets or carriers.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain multifunctional material with good operational characteristics.
