FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Proposed method comprises forming ingot surface layer formation in crystalliser, with drawing ingot from crystalliser and forming coil from ingot. Ingot at the lowest point of its trajectory is directed in circle with radius equal to that of CCM to form multi-turn cylindrical coil spring with radius smaller than that of CCM. Coil spring lengthwise axis is located perpendicular to the plane wherein ingot lengthwise axis curve is located. Ingot is formed into coil at temperature approximating to that of metal crystallisation. In producing ingots at multistrand CCM direction of coiling in each pair of strands is opposite.
EFFECT: super long billet, compact arrangement and reduced stretching strains.
