FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Proposed method comprises local deformation of ingot 1 in two perpendicular directions in plane perpendicular to billet lengthwise axis and separation of billet from ingot 1. At first stage, deformation is performed by first pair of tool 2 to closing surface crystallised layers of ingot 1 and, then, the tool is locked at position corresponding to preset size of billet. At second stage, deformation is performed by second pair of tool 3 to produce preset size of billet. Then, ingot 1 is partially cut and stretched in different sides by moving parts of second pair of tool 3 to tear off the billet from ingot 1.
EFFECT: ruling out liquid metal bleeding from ingot core and higher reliability.
