FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in two parallel equal-size ferromagnetic waveguides whose ends are placed in dampers connected in series and connected to an excitation current pulse generator, a movable permanent magnet simultaneously generates torsional waves at a point equidistant from their detection point, the propagation time of the torsional waves in each waveguide is measured and displacement is calculated using given formulas. Material of the waveguides is chosen such that, the speed of torsional waves and temperature coefficients of the speed of torsional waves in the waveguides are different. The torsional waves are detected in the waveguides using fixed magnetic field converters which are mounted on one of the dampers.
EFFECT: high accuracy of converting displacements.
