SUBSTANCE: in the method an item (3) is installed and fixed on a positioning facility (4) with provision of matching a centre (5) of investigated surface (2) with an optical axis (6) of a visualisation facility, highlighting of investigated surface is arranged, and user mark (1) is watched in reflected beams of light (11) by means of tuning. A self-alignment clamping device is used to position the item. Distance from the centre of the item (3) to a focus F of an eyepiece (12) is constant for the specified range of dimension types of detected items (3). For this purpose mutual fixation of positioning facility (4) and optical system (8) in the axial direction is carried out in one and the same position, for which one-time tuning of the eyepiece is ensured.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of detection of wide range of item dimension types.
