SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to therapeutic dentistry and is intended for determination of intensity of caries affection of permanent teeth in children in period of transitional dentition. Determination of level of intensity of caries affection of permanent teeth in children is carried out by determination of "КПУп" index. Number of carious and filled fissures on occlusive surfaces of first permanent molars is determined. Index of permanent teeth caries intensity is calculated by formula:

where ICpt is intensity of caries of permanent teeth; CFf is number of carious and filled fissures of first permanent molars; "КПУп" is sum of carious and filled surfaces of permanent teeth; n is number of first permanent molars.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase accuracy of estimation of permanent teeth caries and efficiency of therapeutic and preventive measures in children from 6 to 12 years due to taking into account number of carious affections at different surfaces of the same tooth.
