FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing base fuel involves hydrocracking a paraffin hydrocarbon in the presence of a hydrocracking catalyst which contains USY zeolite, having average particle size 0.8 mcm or less, in order to attain rate of decomposition from 75 to 90 wt % as defined by the following equation
where the molar ratio of silica to alumina in the USY zeolite is between 25 and 50.
EFFECT: obtaining a decomposition product with sufficiently low production of light gases.
