FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: spent etching solutions containing iron (II) sulphates and chlorides are recycled through oxidation of iron (II) cations using an oxidising agent and intended use of the treated solutions. The oxidising agent used is a sodium hypochlorite concentrate containing sodium hypochlorite and sodium hydroxide. The obtained suspension is treated with a minimal amount of mineral acid until dissolution of the residue and the treated solutions are used as coagulants in water treatment processes.
EFFECT: complete non-waste recycling of spent etching solutions with intended use of the oxidised solutions as coagulants in water treatment processes.
