FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: excitation element of resonator consisting of two metal mirrors from which at least one is concave and matching excitation elements and energy output elements is made in the form of horn located on outer side of one of the mirrors with possibility of changing the distance to that mirror. Excitation element can be also made in the form of lens feed element with possibility of changing the distance between lens and irradiated mirror. Resonator and excitation element can be arranged in additional waveguide with a gap which is not less than length of wave between internal walls of that waveguide and irradiated mirror of resonator.
EFFECT: increasing Q-factor of open resonator, providing possible adjustment of Q-factor, increasing operating frequency of resonator to frequencies of about 10 THz.
