FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: 3D display consists of package made up of light-dissipating LC modulators and video projector built around micro display to produce 3D object in plane wherein light-dissipating LC modulators are located. Smectic liquid crystals (SLC) make electro optical medium in modulators. SLC layer thickness d, helicoid pitch p0, spontaneous polarisation Ps, modulus Kφ and electric field E are selected from relations that allows producing maximum electrically controlled light dissipation in LC modulators, including bistable characteristic. FLCOS-structure is selected to make video projector micro display.

EFFECT: visualisation of 3D object 30-100 sections at sequential colour variation.
