FIELD: optoelectronics.

SUBSTANCE: in liquid crystal display cell with solid electrodes, filled with helicoidal smectic liquid crystal (SLC) with ferroelectric properties, electrooptical effect of ferroelectric material with deformable helicoid is realized, wherein SLC is made with spiral sub-wave pitch and inclination angle of molecules in smectic layers of not less than 38 degrees.

EFFECT: use of the invention in devices and imaging systems improves the quality of color reproduction, increases the viewing angle and light modulation efficiency, simplifies the technology of making the display cell.
