FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: active liquid crystal stereoscopic glasses have a clock signal receiver, a self-contained power supply, an electronic driver and two liquid crystal shutter. The liquid crystal is ferroelectric with pitch p0 of helicoid. Thickness d of the ferroelectric liquid crystal and boundary conditions thereof are selected according to the condition Kφq2~WQ/d, where Kφ is the modulus of elasticity of the helicoid of the ferroelectric liquid crystal on the azimuthal angle φ, and q is the wave vector of deformation of the helicoid of the ferroelectric liquid crystal. The self-contained power supply is in form of a low-voltage battery whose outputs are connected directly to the power leads of the electronic driver. The electronic driver has limiting switching frequency corresponding to the response time of the ferroelectric shutter to voltage of the low-voltage battery. Disclosed also is an interval for selecting thickness of the ferroelectric liquid crystal layer and conditions for making the dielectric coating and low-voltage battery.
