FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: dirt and sand are first removed from waste water in a container 2 and treated with oxyhydrates of an active metal which are fed for preliminary treatment of waste water from residue 17. Further, the water is treated in a reactor 5 with electrodes 30 and 31 in a granular layer of light metal 32 with pulsed electric discharges of opposite polarity with simultaneous intense aeration. The reactor 5 is fitted with a meshed intermediate bottom 28 and an aerator 20. Waste water treated in the reactor undergoes additional action in main aeration tank 4 through a near-bottom aerator 19. Waste water treated in the main aeration tank is fed into a settling tank 6 through near-bottom flow 23.
EFFECT: low power consumption when treating contaminated and industrial waste water and high efficiency of the treatment apparatus while increasing reliability and quality of treatment owing to use of aeration in the inter-electrode space of the reactor, intensification of processes and wider range of methods of treating waste water.
