FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: when realising the method, a given amount of protein and a luminescent probe are added to the analysed solution, deoxygenated and the obtained solution is exposed to a pulsed light source. Luminescent-kinetic characteristics of the output phosphorescence probe are determined and then compared with luminescent-kinetic characteristics of a reference aqueous solution prepared beforehand. Presence of heavy metals in the analysed solution is determined from the change in intensity and mean life of phosphorescence of the luminescent probe. The apparatus has a pulsed light source, a power supply for the light source, a parabolic mirror, a cuvette, light filters, a lens, a photomultplier, a photomultiplier delay control unit and a synchronisation unit.

EFFECT: eliminating the effect of scattered light on the analysis results.
