SUBSTANCE: in order to control setting up a connection with a user channel in a wireless communication system between mobile and fixed terminal apparatus so that the connection with the user channel at the request of the mobile or fixed terminal apparatus for transmitting useful data takes place faster and so that simultaneously in accordance with market requirements, the fixed terminal apparatus transmits clock pulses in quiescent mode; the initiating device of the communication system (e.g. during an incoming call: base station; during an outgoing call: mobile terminal apparatus) transmits from an asynchronous quiescent mode synchronisation pulses (SB) using all available physical resources. Fast synchronisation is provided based on the set of transmitted, available synchronisation pulses (SB) since as a result, the probability of a pulse falling in the search window of a receiver increases to a sufficient degree.

EFFECT: faster synchronisation.
