FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: cathode element of an electrolytic cell with a hard polymer membrane comprises a hard polymer membrane, a catalytic layer facing the membrane, a porous current collector, a current-conducting grid, made with the possibility of water and gas passage both along thickness, length and width of the grid, a current-releasing plate, a tightening seal, which, when assembled, form a cathode working area of the electrolytic cell, additionally equipped with channels to drain water and hydrogen. At the same time the porous current collector is made of a double-layer carbon fabric with carbon content of at least 99%. The current-conducting grid is made of at least two grids rigid along the thickness, at the same time the grid arranged at the side of a carbon current collector, is made with maximum size of cell openings of not more than thickness of the carbon current collector.
EFFECT: increased reliability of cathode element operation within the electrolytic cell, reduced weight and dimensions of the electrolytic cell.
