FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrochemistry, particularly to methods of modifying electrochemical catalysts on carbon support, used for electrolytic cells or fuel cells with solid polymer electrolyte. Technical result is achieved due to that method of making and modifying electrochemical catalysts on carbon support involves treatment of catalyst on finely dispersed carbon support in a vacuum chamber with flow of atoms or atomic ions of modifying material, catalyst is made by magnetron-ion sputtering of a mixture of a noble metal with carbon from a composite target noble metal-graphite onto a substrate, with subsequent treatment in oxygen plasma-inert gas plasma, and then treatment in hydrogen flow.
EFFECT: technical result of higher activity of electrocatalyst on a carbon support and, as a result, improved performance of electrolysis cells and fuel cells, to reduce consumption of precious metal.
