FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: low voltage is established between monitoring points. Electrical insulation resistance is measured. Voltage is then gradually raised at a rate which enables to stop the monitoring process, in case of a sharp change in insulation resistance, to a value determined by the monitoring conditions. Said time interval is maintained. The value of the steady-state leak resistance is measured and then compared with the available value, wherein during the process of raising voltage between the monitoring points, the value and the trend of the change in electrical insulation resistance is constantly assessed and the rate of raising the voltage is adjusted or a decision is made to stop the monitoring process.

EFFECT: low risk of destruction of the object.
