FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to refrigerating equipment and to the method to produce an ice-containing suspension from sea water and a plant for its realisation. The plant realises the proposed method as follows. Sea water is supplied into a vacuum chamber from a reservoir. In the chamber with pressure of 600 Pa and temperature from -2°C to -4.5°C sea water boils and forms crystals. A generator of ultrasonic oscillations creates an acoustic field in a reservoir with boiling sea water, which is characterised with availability of waves, i.e. oscillations with frequency of 60…65 kHz. Exposure of the acoustic field, the specified parameters results in formation of crystals of spherical shape with a diameter from 0.1 to 0.5 mm. A highly concentrated strong solution of lithium bromide flows along the side surface of the vacuum chamber and absorbs produced vapours of water. A pump continuously removes a water solution of lithium bromide into a weak solution compartment of a generator for recovery of lithium bromide concentration, where its concentration is restored by evaporation of water with low potential heat. The strong aqueous solution of lithium bromide with recovered concentration is sent to the strong solution compartment by the pump. From the strong solution compartment, using the pump, the solution is sent to the vacuum chamber, closing the cycle, and water evaporated from the solution is removed to environment via a condenser. The suspension with concentration of solid phase of 50% is removed from the vacuum chamber into a reservoir of suspension storage.
