FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: near-field sensor system has an array of detectors comprising a first detector which is configured to generate a first input signal in response to stimulus, and a second detector configured to generate a second input signal in response to said stimulus, the first and second detectors being separated by a distance d; and a processor configured to generate an output signal from the first and second input signals, where the output signal is a function of the difference between two values, where the first value is a product of a first scalar factor and a vector representation of the first input signal, and the second value is a product of a second scalar factor and the vector representation of the second input signal, where each of the first and second scalar factors include a member which is a function of the ratio of the values of the first and second input signals.
EFFECT: high efficiency of capturing the voice of the user while simultaneously rejecting noise signal.
