FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relate to an orthoether-based polymer of general formula: used to demix water-oil emulsions, and to versions of the method of producing said polymer. R1 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group with 1-4 carbon atoms, R2, R3 and R4 are independently a group containing C3-C4 oxyalkylene groups and/or oxyethylene groups in any order, and a terminal group Y, which is independently hydrogen, a hydrocarbyl group with 1-30 carbon atoms. One of the groups R2, R3 and R4 contains at least one block with an average of at least 4 oxyalkylene groups with 3 and/or 4 carbon atoms. The method of producing the polymer involves reaction of an orthoether of formula: where R8 is a hydrocarbyl group with 1-4 carbon atoms with reactants containing groups indicated earlier, with extraction of separated compounds of formula R8OH.
EFFECT: novel efficient water-in-oil emulsion demulsifiers, having an higher capacity for biodegradability and good technological parameters, and also exhibiting low environmental toxicity.
