FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves loading a portion of initial components into reaction equipment to obtain a water-oil dispersion of 12-oxystearic acid and oleic acid in a mixture of straw and industrial oil, saponification with lithium hydroxide solution, dehydration, thermal treatment, cooling the reaction mixture, holding the mixture while stirring with circulation, draining the obtained semi-product, cooling while simultaneously adding functional additives, homogenisation, filtration, deaeration and packing the grease. After obtaining grease in amount of up to 10-15% of the volume of the batch of the grease, the production process is stopped, and samples are collected from the packed grease for analysis of compliance with requirements for penetration, colloidal stability and acidity. If analysis results are not satisfactory, the grease is taken for further processing with correction of the quantitative content of the initial components and processing conditions, otherwise the production process is resumed. The invention provides operational life of grease for freight wagons of up to 5 years and mileage of 450 thousand kilometres, with permissible operating conditions of up to 200 km/h.
