SUBSTANCE: device has one or more light radiating modules which emit light at different wavelengths from the first to the n-th, where n is a whole number equal to or greater than 2; a radiation controller which controls radiation of the light radiating modules; a light receiving module which receives the component of light radiated from the light radiating module and then reflected from a sheet of paper and/or passing through a sheet of paper; and a paper recognition processor which recognises a sheet of paper using an optical signal received by the light receiving module. The radiation controller controls radiation by light radiating modules such that the amount of radiated light in one radiation cycle for each type of light, from the first to the n-th, differs depending on information required for use during recognition of a sheet of paper.
EFFECT: wider range of use by reading and recognising multiple images.
