FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of making antenna dome cladding involves making a ceramic workpiece, mechanical processing to given dimensions, hardening and sealing the cladding by saturating with an organic polymer on the inner surface and moisture proofing the cladding by applying a removable moisture proofing coating on its outer surface. The ceramic material of the cladding on the entire outer surface or only the front end is modified at a depth of 1-3 mm by saturating with aqueous solution of a chromium salt with density 1200-1400 kg/m owing to capillary properties of the porous quartz ceramic, followed by drying and thermal treatment of the cladding at temperature 450-750°C for 1-3 hours.
EFFECT: high operating temperature of the organic polymer-hardened cladding made from quartz ceramic and low rate of loss of material from heat-loaded areas of the antenna dome cladding.
