FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: at three ground-based receiving centres, time instants for receiving radio signals of radio-frequency sources not reflected and reflected from the earth's surface are recorded, where phase antennae of said receiving centres are arranged in a defined way. Spatial coordinates are determined from given simple expressions which depend on the average values of repeatedly measured differences between reception times of corresponding radio signals. The method includes a technique for selecting the most accurate of three given versions of determining spatial coordinates of the object, which enables to obtain an axially symmetric coverage area of systems realising said method and significantly widens said coverage area.
EFFECT: possibility of varying the configuration of the coverage area of a radio engineering system and formation thereof depending on the set task and possibility of monitoring movement in space of several objects - radio-frequency sources - using ground-based equipment.
